Week 4 OTHER TOOLS FOR ONLINE LEARNING
For this task I chose Audacity to make a podcast. I listen to the occasional podcast and so this is the tool I was most curious about.
I put on a High Tea at home for some friends in the holidays and they loved it. I decided to put the instructions on how to do it in a podcast entitled "How To Put On A High Tea" as they thought they would like to have a go too.
I enjoyed this task. Audacity was not hard to use. The HELP with quick start up instructions was easy to follow. It included screens shots and simple, easy to understand and follow instructions. The tutorials were also straight forward. There was a definition section in the instructions to click on if you did not understand any of the lingo. Editing was easy to do with the selection tool to select a section you want deleted and the pressing "C" to preview what it will sound like once that section is deleted. You can cut the section out to the clipboard it you wish and if you decide you want to put it back you just "undo". You can also go straight to delete if you are happy with what you have selected. Moving forward and backward along the recording with the arrow keys and space bar is easy. This is very similar to Clickview. There is a simple download of software called LAME if you wish to save your project in MP3 format - which I did.
This seems to be a very popular software tool, largely because it is FREE! It also seems to be quite powerful enough to do the typesof recording that most people seem to want to do. Another reason it seems to be so popular is its' ease of use and the simple easy to follow tutorials.
I enjoy using these types of software - MovieMaker, Clickview, Audacity - the only thing I did not like about this was the sound of my voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sound like my sisters!!!!!!!!!!!
My friends didn't seem to notice this - probably because they were too busy laughing at it! Whatever!
